College and Career Ready Week By Matt Wright
On Tuesday, October 6 from 5-7 p.m., MTHS will be hosting a College and Career Night in the high school library. We would like to invite juniors and seniors and their parents to talk to representatives about financial aid, the application process, and any other questions they might have. This year the following schools and organizations will be in attendance: Arkansas Tech, University of Arkansas, Lyon College, Williams Baptist, UCA, Arkansas State University, ASUN, Greenway Equipment,the Arkansas National Guard, and the United States Marines. Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be given to attendees.On Wednesday, October 7 at 10 a.m. in the high school auditorium, MTHS will be hosting an Alumni Panel to discuss how to be successful, including goal setting, selecting a college, the importance of connections, and communication skills.Panel members will include Trey Stafford, co-owner of Jonesboro Radio Group and morning personality for 104.9 the Fox; Jarrett Perry, computer systems analyst for admissions at UCA and Gates Scholar; Lee Shinaberry, owner of Shinaberry Compounding Pharmacy; Robin Rye Dabney, nurse practitioner at UTMP-Vascular and Endovascular Surgery; Zack Tucker, Mayor of Monticello, and Josh Brown, co-owner of Haag-Brown RealtyOn Thursday, October 8, students participating in the ACT prep program will be attending a college day at the University of Arkansas. We will leave early by 6 a.m. and return Thursday evening.Start making plans to attend!!!!
